Watch and converse with local wood carvers as they work, and view many finished products in the Forge and in the House.

BSHP Annual Meeting
Members are invited to hear what’s been happening and what’s to come, elect the new board of directors, and view a new summer exhibit.  A free and optional pot luck supper in the Forge will follow the meeting.  Please plan to join us, and if you can, bring a dish or dessert to share.  Seating is limited.  Please let us know if you will be at the supper with a phone call by June 3rd.    Call 508-563-5786

 OPEN FOR THE SEASON:

The Briggs-McDermott House, the Alonzo Booth Blacksmith Shop, and the Allen Green Carriage House will be open to the public.  The forge will be operating, and a fine collection of vintage carriages is on display in the carriage house.  In the house view mannequins dressed in the classic “Summer Whites” of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. The Briggs-McDermott House also displays period furnishings and practical implements of the period from 1840 to 1940.  Occasionally, costumed docents will be found baking old-time recipes in the vintage wood stove.  Special exhibits and the art of famed marine artist, Charles Raleigh, are always worth a visit.  


Saturday, June 17, 10 to 1 pm
Car Tour of Cataumet Village
Meet at the Cataumet Methodist Church at 1093 County Road to begin in the Cataumet Cemetery.  Participants will caravan to several other interesting venues where history and intriguing anecdotes will be shared.  Refreshments!

Sunday, August 6, 1 to 3 pm
“A Summer White Lawn Party”  
Wear your best “summer whites” and stroll the grounds of the Briggs-McDermott House.  Enjoy refreshments and music  with old friends and new. Rain date Sunday, August 13th.

“HARVEST FESTIVAL”
An old time HARVEST FESTIVAL at the Briggs-McDermott House, working Alonzo Booth Forge and Alan Green Carriage House.
Food, Crafts, Games, Live Music, Horse Rides, Miniature Petting Ponies, Weaving, Attic Treasures, Country Store, Ice Cream Churning, Cider Pressing, Puppet Show ($1 pp)

Fairhaven Caravan Riverside Cemetery Tour for Members Only.  Meet at the Briggs McDermott House.
Carpool from the Briggs Campus to scenic Fairhaven where a local guide leads us on a walking tour of the Riverside Cemetery. Lunch (not included) at a  popular local restaurant.   $10 per person
